A typical game takes around 30-45 minutes to play, but you can easily make it shorter, or longer!
There are 3 ways to build a campfire.
Sets (3 of the same numbered cards of any suit / color) For example, 5, 5 5.
Runs (4 cards in a numbered sequence of any suit /color) For example, 5, 6, 7, 8
Suits (Any 4 cards of the same suit / color) For example: 5 (red), 9 (red), 12 (red) 3 (red)
Once you collect a campfire, you can play it on the table to earn 1 point! But be aware, there are hungry bears and jealous campers that may decide to attack!
There are 20 possible campsites in the game, ranging from easy (green) to very challenging (black). These are like your quest cards and describe a specific combination of cards you need to collect to end a round and earn points. You typically start by building a campfire, then upgrade to a full campsite.
An easy (green) campsite card example:
1 set of 3, and 1 run of 4
To end a round, a player must fully satisfy the requirements of the campsite card, then get rid of all excess cards in their hands to "go out". Once that happens, the round ends immediately and play stops.
The player who completed the campsite first gets to keep the card and earns the full point value on the card (worth 3-6 points depending on the difficulty of the campsite)
All other players receive a campfire point card for each separate campfire(s) remaining on the table (including those inside of campsites). Sorry! It's too late to reorder your cards!
For example, if a player had played a completed campsite card on the table (1 set of 3, and 1 run of 4) but was not the first to go out, they would received 2 points, one for the set, and one for the run.
The campsites that were not earned/collected by a player go back in the middle to be used for the next round.
No. Although it's very rare, it's possible to accomplish the entire campsites using one campfire. For example, if a campsite requires a run of 6 and 4 cards of the same color, a run of 6 all of the same suit counts as meeting both of these requirements. There just need to be 4 cards of the same suit in the run.
